Wolfgang A. Kutrieb, Chairman, CEO and Founder

Following the completion of his education in Berlin, Germany, Wolfgang Kutrieb immigrated to the United States in 1963.  He founded his first company in 1967, which led to a continuous string of engineering innovations and product manufacturing in combustion related technologies.  Mr. Kutrieb holds numerous patents in combustion controls and fuel atomization methods.  Beginning in the late 1970’s, Kutrieb Corporation was the first company to introduce a unique incinerator that burned waste oils and met EPA emission standards.  The systems waste heat was used for commercial heating purposes. Over 15,000 units were manufactured and distributed nationwide.   In 1986, Mr. Kutrieb founded Turbine Technologies, Ltd. (TTL).  TTL continues to operate and grow in the development and manufacture of educational thermo-fluid demonstration devices- specifically designed to train undergraduate engineering students.  Hundreds of these devices are in operation at institutions worldwide.  At Kutrieb Research™, Mr. Kutrieb leads the effort to advance technology in small gas turbine engines.  Mr. Kutrieb is also a licensed commercial pilot with over 4,000 hours of pilot in command time.  Kutrieb Research™ is a family owned company and Mr. Kutrieb enjoys working with his wife and three sons.

Mike Kutrieb, President 

As President of Kutrieb Research™, Mike Kutrieb primarily serves the company in oversight of gas turbine engine business and product development.  Prior to co-founding Kutrieb Research™, Mike served numerous roles at another Kutrieb family engineering and technology company, Turbine Technologies, Ltd. (TTL).  Mike’s 15 year background at TTL was primarily in thermo-fluids lab product development, which included a variety of engineering functions, followed by business development roles and most recently as that company’s Vice President.  Mike received his Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering in 1988.  Prior to joining TTL, he was employed as a pilot for United Express Airlines with hub operations at ORD, MSP, DEN and DTW.  He is an Airline Transport Rated pilot with over 7,000 hours of pilot-in-command time.

Toby Kutrieb, Vice President 

Toby Kutrieb serves the company in areas of vendor relations, supply chain coordination and management of equipment/facilities infrastructure. He’s been instrumental in the selection and acquisition of machinery for the company’s rapid prototyping lab, machine shop and foundry operation. Prior to co-founding Kutrieb Research™, Toby served numerous roles at another Kutrieb family engineering and technology company, Turbine Technologies, Ltd. (TTL).  Toby’s 11-year background at TTL included a variety of roles in manufacturing, production scheduling and project management.  Toby is a licensed rotorcraft pilot and is a past president and current active member of the local water ski team and enjoys serving as a board member of the municipal airport committee.

Tom Kutrieb, Vice President Product Development

Tom Kutrieb primarily serves the company in gas turbine engine hardware development and takes a very active role in machine programming/operation and gas turbine engine assembly/test. Prior to co-founding Kutrieb Research™, Tom served numerous roles at another Kutrieb family engineering and technology company, Turbine Technologies, Ltd. (TTL).  Tom’s 16-year background at TTL included a variety of roles in manufacturing and product development/support.  Tom personally traveled to customer sites worldwide in a training role at TTL.  He’s commissioned customer sites on 5 continents and provided product support for those clients. He received his Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration in 1990.  Tom holds a black belt in Taekwondo and enjoys playing guitar, trumpet and piano with a variety of local groups.
